First Sunday in Advent 2018 (Genesis 12:1-3)

Tim Douglass, December 2, 2018
Part of the Advent 2018 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Advent is a season of preparation. It is a time when we make ourselves ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus and it is also a time when we think about why Jesus had to come. This year we are going to begin our Advent series by considering sin and the consequences it has for mankind. Our reason for celebrating the coming of Christ should begin with understanding how much the world needs Him.

Genesis 12:1-3

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (KJV)
