Easter Sunday 2021 (Matthew 28:1-8)

Tim Douglass, April 4, 2021
Part of the Easter 2021 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Easter is the culmination of events that God had been working on since before the dawn of time. Jesus, during His ministry frequently made references to what was going to happen with Him, although the people who heard Him, including His disciples, never seemed to quite get it. However, even His enemies seem to have made some note of what He said. After Jesus was crucified we get this account from Matthew 27:57-66: the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Those who opposed Jesus were sufficiently aware of His teaching that they feared a hoax based on what He had said.
