The Word Became Flesh (John 1:1-5)

Tim Douglass, December 4, 2016
Part of the Advent 2016 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Christmas truly is a celebration of miracles. The very nature of the birth of Jesus begins with the miracle of His conception, but there are many others that surround His birth. The one that is the greatest miracle of all, however, is the miracle of immanuel–“with us is God”. The birth of Jesus was not His beginning at all, and that makes Him something extra special. Only when we realize just how different Jesus is from us can we see how miraculous it is that He became so much like us. In this second Sunday of Advent we are going to talk about how the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
