Hebrews 7:11-28 (Hebrews 7:11-28)

Tim Douglass, July 9, 2017
Part of the Letter to the Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Once again we are looking at Melchizedek the priest, but, as before, we are really going to look past him to see Jesus. People sometimes wonder why the writer of Hebrews makes such a big deal out of the priesthood of Jesus, but we have to remember to read this through the eyes of his original readers, who were Jews to whom the priesthood and the sacrificial system were all-important for their relationship with God. We will take a look at how Jesus both assumes the mantle of the priesthood and surpasses it.
