Hebrews 8:13-9:15 (Hebrews 8:13-9:15)

Tim Douglass, July 23, 2017
Part of the Letter to the Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

As we continue to look at Jesus, the perfect priest offering the perfect sacrifice, we want to take a look at the difference between the sacrifices of the old system and the sacrifice of Christ. There is an important point that we need to remember after we read Hebrews 8:12 where we are reminded that God “will be merciful to the unrighteous and their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more”. The promise of forgiveness cannot be taken to mean that God doesn’t care about our sin or that He treats it lightly. In fact, we need to see that He takes sin very, very seriously. Both the old covenant and the new covenant show the burden of sin, but they provide slightly different solutions to it.
