John the Baptist's Song - Fourth Sunday in Advent (Luke 3:1-18)
Tim Douglass, December 24, 2017Part of the Advent 2017 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
It may seem a bit strange to have John the Baptist as our song for the last Sunday in Advent, particularly on Christmas Eve, since John started his ministry long after Jesus was born. But the birth of Jesus is meaningless without the cross of Christ, and the cross can only be understood in the teaching of Jesus, so John’s ministry of preparation of the people for the ministry of Jesus fits right in with our need to prepare our hearts for the birth of our Lord.
