Hebrews 11:39-12:3 - Part 2 (Hebrews 11:39-12:3)

Tim Douglass, February 4, 2018
Part of the Letter to the Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

In this race of faith that we are engaged on there are any number of challenges, but no matter what else we are dealing with we should always have Jesus Christ as both our focus and as our prop. Because of that it is always a good thing to look at Him and what He has done for us and the example He sets. The shame of the cross didn’t bother Jesus because of what He knew was ahead. We too should be looking to the future and letting that hope carry us through whatever we face here and now.

Hebrews 11:39-12:3

39And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
