2 Corinthians 8:1-15 (2 Corinthians 8:1-15)

Tim Douglass, September 3, 2023
Part of the 2 Corinthians series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This is another of the places where Paul seems to make a somewhat radical change in topic. From his discussion of how Titus has been encouraged by the Corinthian church and how that encouragement has blessed Paul to this section where he talks about giving seems like a rather large leap, but there is really a bit of a connection, if not in topic at least in how it all relates to the church. The church at the time had a lot of challenges and for many believers merely surviving was difficult. Sometimes the only thing keeping people going was the help they could receive through the church. Helping the poor was always a big part of Paul’s ministry and we see that continuing in this passage.
