First Sunday of Advent - The People (Ephesians 5:8-14, Isaiah 9:2)

Tim Douglass, December 3, 2023
Part of the Advent 2023 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent, that period of weeks when we prepare ourselves for Christmas. Traditionally Christians have, through a variety of things, sought to spend the weeks leading up to Christmas focusing on various aspects of the birth narrative. This year I’ve taken a bit of a different perspective on some common ideas. This year my themes are: The People; The Parents; The Pasture (aka the shepherds); The Presents; and The Person.

In talking about the people we are reminding ourselves that all people through all time have needed and still need a savior and that God has provided that savior in Jesus Christ.
