Hebrews 11:30-40 Part 4 (Hebrews 11:30-40)

Tim Douglass, January 7, 2018
Part of the Letter to the Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

“David and Samuel and the prophets.” As the writer moves to the climax of his list of heroes of the faith they seem to be coming faster and with less detail. The implication is that this list of the faithful could go on for a long time. For the original recipients of this letter I think that David might have been the most venerated of any on the list. He is also a particularly good example of someone who trusted in God through a variety of circumstances, good and bad. As we look at this last group of faithful people we should be especially aware of how their faith endured independently of their circumstances.
