Palm Sunday 2017 (Luke 19:37-44)

Tim Douglass, April 9, 2017
Part of the Other series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Palm Sunday is often seen as merely a preparation for Easter – sort of a warm-up act to main show. But as Jesus rides into Jerusalem and all the people are cheering we can see the Power of God in the Person of God coming to the People of God. There is a lot of stuff going on here. There was no real reason for Him to enter the city this way other than to make a symbolic statement. If we consider the fact that this was a deliberate arrangement to make a point then it suddenly takes a lot more important place in the events of Holy Week. Why is it that if the people won’t cheer, the very rocks will take up the cry?
