Zechariah's Song - Third Sunday in Advent (Luke 1:67-79)

Tim Douglass, December 17, 2017
Part of the Advent 2017 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Our song for the third Sunday in Advent is Zechariah’s song. Zechariah, or Zacharias, is the father of John the Baptist, and his song is one of praise for God’s care and of prophesy of what God is doing next. He and all of Israel have been anticipating the coming of the Messiah, and now Zacharias is in the position of knowing that God is using him as a part of that grand plan. His reaction is all about God and His plan. All the generations of anticipation come together at that moment of time and Zacharias can sing “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel”!
