Hebrews 11:39-12:3 (Hebrews 11:39-12:3)

Tim Douglass, January 28, 2018
Part of the Letter to the Hebrews series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

After listing all these great heroes of the faith we finally get down to what that means for us. Every one of them has been a lesson, but the major reason why we need to think about them is found in the person of Jesus Christ, who fulfills the promises and answers the questions that they all struggled with. Now that we have thoroughly discussed the Old Testament faithful we are going to turn our attention to the person who gives us the reason for faith today.

Hebrews 11:39-12:3

39And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
